The Safety Manager will be responsible for the administration of NAMSA’s safety program, including development of educational materials and training programs, facility inspections, job hazard analysis, compliance monitoring, industrial hygiene, and development and communication of safety policies, procedures, plans, manuals, and rules. Ensures compliance to Ethylene Oxide Standard 29 CFR 1910.1047, Formaldehyde Standard 29 CFR 1910.1048 and Respiratory Protection Standard 29 CFR 1910.134, including monitoring exposure limits, recommending corrective actions when necessary, badging procedures, and record keeping. Coordinates Spill Team activities and training in compliance to 29 CFR 1910.120 and Occupational Health and Safety Program. Responsible for Hazardous Waste Regulatory Compliance, including 29 CFR 1910.1450, 29 CFR 1910.1200, Department of Transportation training for shipment of waste (49 CFR Part 171-179), and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act training for waste handlers (RCRA annual training). Maintains appropriate permits and/or license with EPA for locations including, Hazardous Waste Generator permit, Storm Water compliance, and Waste Water compliance. Acts as Radiation Safety Officer for the company and insures compliance to radiation safety standards.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a related discipline. Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS) preferred.
Experience: 5 years related work experience required. Requirements: Demonstrated working knowledge of OSHA standards, DOT standards, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory standards. Experience with CalOSHA standards desired. Experience as Radiation Officer also desirable. Must have the ability to communicate both orally and in writing with groups of people of varying educational background. Strong background with Microsoft office ( ie, Word, Excel). Ability to maintain confidentiality, organize, prioritize and carry out projects with minimal instruction. Will require routine travel to other NAMSA business locations.

GULF OF MEXICO – Entry Level Safety Professionals (May 19, 2010)
SafeCon Consulting Group, Inc. has been awarded a contract to assist with the Gulf of Mexico cleanup resulting from the platform explosion off the coast of Louisiana a few weeks ago. SafeCon Consulting Group, Inc. is looking for entry level safety professionals with two to four years experience (experience can be substituted by bachelor of science degree). CPR Card, First Aid Card, HAZWOPER 40 hour certificate and OSHA 30 Hour card is a plus. This is an independent contractor position that pays $30 an hour, $100 a day per diem (depending on location) and mileage. Reporting to the Vice President, Plant Operations, the Director will manage, limit and control the Environmental impacts of CHEP USA while also managing and improving Health and Safety performance.
