  • Written Safety Program – Provide safety programs designed for your company.

As we start a new year, it is a good time to review your safety plan (manual, training & inspections) for the year. Your company Safety Manual may be due for an update. Are you providing your employees with the most current materials to allow them to perform their job safely and efficiently? During 2015, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) made changes to several important programs that could impact you. Additionally, most OSHA programs have a requirement that the written programs be reviewed and updated annually. Now is the time to check and make sure your safety manual is current.

Some of the revisions implemented by OSHA during few years include:
1. Major changes to the Confined Space Entry programs
2. Changes to the reporting and recording of accidents, including updates to mandatory OSHA notifications
3. Sweeping updates to the Hazard Communication standard to align with Global Harmonization
4. Proposed changes to several chemical related standards, including silica and beryllium, as well as proposed changes to the crane standards

In addition to the OSHA requirements, many corporations are moving to a process of pre-qualification for all contractors. These pre-screening programs often go well beyond the OSHA standards to include industry ‘best practices’. In order to be approved as a site contractor, your company must have written policies addressing a multitude of safety items. Safety Alliance can help make sure your programs meet these qualification requirements.
